Dear Respected Businesses, Friends and Neighbors,

We invite you to support a special event in your area: The Third Annual "Paul's Run for Epilepsy" will take place on October 16, 2011 in Prospect Heights, IL. This event is close to our hearts, as Paul Schmidt was a young man from Prospect Heights who died in October 2008 from SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy). Paul battled epilepsy for seven years and died at the age of 21.

We are proud to announce that Paul’s Run has raised over $30,000 for SUDEP research in the past two years. The 2010 race boasted an impressive 350 participants! All proceeds raised at Paul’s Run for Epilepsy benefit CURE (Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy), where the funding goes directly to fund grants that support the research of SUDEP.

CURE was founded by mothers who were frustrated by their inability to protect their children from seizures and medicinal side effects. Every five minutes a child is diagnosed with epilepsy, a devastating neurological disease which affects over 3 million Americans and 50,000,000 people worldwide. As was Paul’s case, in over 40% of patients seizures can not be controlled, even with the best medical treatments. Since 1998 CURE has raised over $15 million dollars toward research and public awareness for epilepsy. Still, epilepsy remains a severely under-funded cause.

Donations from community members like you will give much needed hope to the millions of families suffering from this life-changing, life-altering condition. There are several opportunities to support the 2011 race either financially or by donation of in-kind goods/services. Exposure of your business can reach many potential clients through t-shirts, banners, goody bags and website advertising along with vendor opportunities at the event.

Please, we need your help - Become a Paul's Run Sponsor!
All Sponsors will be advertised on our website, and have name placement on our T-shirts. Please see the attached information for additional benefits or to find out how to become a sponsor for this wonderful community event!

Please consider joining us as we celebrate the life of this special young man, as well as a chance to offer hope for the future for the millions of people affected by epilepsy.

With warmest regards,

The Paul Schmidt Family
